Chief Emeka Anuna-Chairman Concerned Subscribers TUC/NLC Good Homes Scheme and other subscribers

It was William Arthur Ward, who said, “the cost of mediocrity is disappointment”.

For the over 152 subscribers that paid over 500 million naira to Good Homes Company Development Limited for the NLC/TUC Good Homes Nationwide Workers’ Housing Scheme, flagged off by then President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, on Thursday, 18 December 2014, at Apo-Tafyi after Mechanic Village, by 10am, their state and condition has been melancholic, with some deceased, some down with stroke, some retired and homeless, some psychotic; and they are at a loss as to why the FG, FCT administration and leadership of NLC and TUC as major stakeholders to the project, can’t resolve their pains and compel Good Homes Company Development Limited, to deliver and handover homes to subscribers almost 10 years after paying initial deposits.

In the words of a subscriber, “It’s like a dream! A decade gone…No House! No Land! No carcasses! No fulfilment of promises made in sight! Our hope is only in God to touch the FCT Minister and Govt to become more responsive to the plight of her citizens who only subscribed because we saw TUC/NLC as Partners”.

Another subscriber appealed, “I am one of the subscribers of the NLC/TUC good homes housing scheme, and we are praying to God that the FCT minister will bring an end to our suffering as a Nigerian leader and a stakeholder”.

In series of visits to the Honourable Minister of FCT and the leadership of NLC & TUC, the housing scheme subscribers continue to appeal for the final resolution of their pains and bring comfort to them, by ensuring that the houses they made payments for close to a decade ago is completed and handed over to them.

In the light of the expiration of the tenure of the current government, it is imperative that NLC and TUC seize the initiative to resolve this crisis with the FG & FCT Administration, considering the moral burden of NLC & TUC, whose involvement as key stakeholders in this project, gave confidence to subscribers to participate.

It is hoped, that with the re-election of Mr. Ayuba Wabba as the NLC President, he will passionately deliver to the long dismayed subscribers their heart yearnings of receiving their title allocations.
