“The management of Azman Air will like to inform the general public that we will be halting our operations into Kaduna airport.”
Following the recent attack on Kaduna airport, Azman Air has halted flights to Kaduna.
Announcing the development in a statement on Monday, the airline’s management explained that it suspended operations in Kaduna to re-evaluate its operational procedures in the airport.
“The management of Azman Air will like to inform the general public that we will be halting our operations into Kaduna airport for a few days,” the airline said.
Despite acknowledging that the security situation around the airport has returned to normal, the airline said the suspension was needed to ensure the safety of its equipment, staff and passengers are fully guaranteed.
Armed bandits on Saturday afternoon breached security at the airport, attacking people.
A witness told Peoples Gazette the attack occurred shortly after 12:00 noon when the attackers scaled the airport barriers and caused widespread panic across the facility.
The attack allegedly caused a 44-minute delay in an Azman Air flight from Kaduna to Lagos. However, passengers aboard the plane arrived safely.
Two days after the invasion, armed bandits on Monday bombed a passenger train along the Kaduna-Abuja track.
