Clergies of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) have urged Nigerians not to be discouraged or embrace any form of hopelessness in spite of the challenges in the country.

The clergies made the call at a “Let’s Go a Fishing” programme held on Saturday in Abuja, organised by the RCCG members.

Moses Adeyanju, the pastor-in-charge of RCCG Province 17, FCT, Region 46, Abuja, said that the programme was a church planting exercise of the RCCG.

Mr Adeyanju said that the aim of the programme was to bring more souls into the kingdom of God, spread the word of God to people and to establish more churches across the country.

He said that the theme of the 2024 let’s go a fishing was tagged “Resurrection and Life”.

He said that the programme was engaged by all the members of the RCCG worldwide and was a three-day exercise.

He emphasised the importance of hope and unity during Easter in spite the challenges in the country.

“Do not be discouraged; this spiritual work is being rewarded by God alone, no man will reward you.

“It is only the Almighty God that will pay you all your efforts and commitment in the service of God,” he said.

The clergy used the story of Lazarus in the scripture, John chapter 11 verse 24 and 25, to illustrate the significance of the death and resurrection of Christ.

He said that the death and resurrection of Lazarus were the greatest miracles in the Holy Bible.

He said that immediately Lazarus resurrected, the stinky and swollen in his body disappeared and he stood up and became alive.

He said that the death of Christ was substitutionary, expiratory and transforming.

According to him, the bodily resurrection of Christ proclaims God’s triumph over the forces of evil and for those who accept the atonement assures their final victory over sin and death.

“Let’s go a fishing is an opportunity to bring back our potential and our action as fervent and dedicated christians.

“Some christians are already discouraged because of the challenges and trouble they are facing, thereby, making them reducing the zeal and willingness in serving God.

“Some have lost their concentration, they are moving without focus, that was not how they started, i am urging us to go back to our old time religion.

“We can still regain those power, zeal and willingness in the service of God. God is not a partial God, He will not fail nor forsake us. RCCG is out to bring souls for Christ, ” he said.

Johnson Eyoola, Pastor-in-Charge of Genesis Zone, Jikwoyi, Abuja, said that Nigerians should not despair in the service of God, adding that God does not grow faint nor weary.

He advised Nigerians to remain hopeful of better days ahead and move away from the present predicament.
