Tanker seized by Greece last April as part of EU sanctions
TEHRAN, Iran
Iran said Tuesday that an oil tanker seized by Greece has been freed.
“Despite the US attempt to confiscate the Iranian oil cargo on an Iranian-flagged tanker off the Greek coast, a Greek court has overturned an earlier court ruling and now the court has ordered the Greek government to return the cargo to its owners,” Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) said in a statement cited by the Mehr news agency.
Last April, Greek authorities seized the Iranian oil tanker Lana, previously called as Pegas, as a part of EU sanctions against Tehran.
On June 9, a Greek court overturned a previous ruling that allowed the US to seize the oil of the seized Iranian tanker.
