The Nobel Prize in Physics 2021 is worth $1.15 million to be shared by the recipients.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 2021 to scientists Syukuro Manabe (Japan), Klaus Hasselmann (Germany) and Giorgio Parisi (Italy).

The Nobel Prize chose Mr Manabe and Mr Hasselman for their work in the “physical modelling of Earth’s climate, quantifying variability and reliably predicting global warming.”

Mr Parisi is being awarded “for the discovery of the interplay of disorder and fluctuations in physical systems from atomic to planetary scales.”

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2021 is worth $1.15 million, equal parts will be given to Mr Manabe and Mr Hasselman while the other half will be given to Mr Parisi.

The Nobel Prize is five separate prizes awarded for individual contributions in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Medicine or Physiology, Literature and Peace.

Every October, committees in Sweden and Norway name candidates eligible to win the awards. This year’s ceremony is slated to take place sometime in December.
