In the build-up to the November 5 U.S. presidential election, former President Donald Trump and Vice-President Kamala Harris will face off in a debate on September 10.
Mr Trump, of the Republican Party, confirmed his participation in the debate with Ms Harris, of the Democratic Party, during a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago Club on Thursday.
The debate will be broadcast on ABC News.
“I look forward to the debates because I think we have to set the record straight,” Mr Trump said.
The former U.S. president also proposed additional debates with Ms Harris, suggesting two more on Fox and NBC.
“We should do three debates,” he said.
In response, Ms Harris expressed her anticipation for the debate on X, saying, “I hear that Donald Trump has finally committed to debating me on September 10. I look forward to it.”
The September 10 debate will mark Ms Harris’ first debate with Mr Trump, who had previously debated President Joe Biden in June, who dropped out of the race for Ms Harris.
