ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – According to official reports, at least 12 people were killed, and 27 others were injured in a series of accidents across many Punjab cities during torrential rains.

Following Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s directions, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood alert sheet outlining the monsoon rain situation and water levels in rivers, barrages, and dams throughout Punjab.

According to a PDMA spokeswoman, considerable rain has fallen in Lahore, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Kot Addu, and Bahawalpur within 24 hours.

The storms killed 12 people, damaged 14 homes, and injured 27. The deceased were five children, three women and four males.

The PDMA reported that lightning strikes in Narowal and Multan killed three individuals.

The report also stated that, under government directives, financial support would be provided to bereaved families.

Monsoon rains are forecast to continue over the province until July 15.

The PDMA said preparations for anticipated floods in numerous districts are comprehensive, with tents available for flood victims.

Urban flooding is expected in Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala, prompting major city administrations to remain cautious.
