Policemen run over in Umm al-Fahm city

JERUSALEM

Two Israeli police officers were injured on Friday in a car-ramming in the Arab-majority city of Umm al-Fahm in Israel, the police said in a statement.

“During the activity of the border guards in the Umm al-Fahm city, a suspect driving a vehicle arrived at the place and ran over the police, as a result, two from border guards were injured,” the police said.

“The police responded by firing at the vehicle, wounding two people, then stopped the vehicle and seized an illegal pistol,” they added.

According to an earlier statement, the Israeli police had arrested six residents in the city on suspicion of participating in “riots in the city Thursday evening,” as the city witnessed shooting and burning of houses and cars, following a “murder.”

In recent years, Arab citizens have been suffering from the spread of unlicensed weapons and killings, which have claimed dozens of lives in their residential areas.
