A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is silently in support of a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in 2023.

Speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Abuja, Okechukwu said a president of Igbo extraction will end agitations and threats by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East.

“Mr President and host of other Nigerians are silently in support of Nigeria president of Igbo extraction 2023 project, but are weary and reticent of IPOB stance. Therefore, in my little opinion, IPOB support of our project will kill two birds with one stone.” he stated.

He explained that some power brokers in the Nigerian politics were in support of a president from the South East zone but were worried about the activities of IPOB in the zone, hence the need for the group to back elders’ position on Igbo presidency.

“My understanding of IPOB agitation is to end Igbo marginalization. If that is the case then our 2023 Nigeria president of Igbo extraction will be the end of the civil war. Nigerians are waiting for IPOB to change gear.”

“I also appeal to IPOB to support Nigerian President of Igbo extraction 2023 project. I think IPOB support will kill two birds with one stone.

“I join Ohaneze Ndigbo, Eminent Constitutional Lawyer and Chairman, Igbo Leaders of Thought, Prof Ben Nwabueze, and people of goodwill nationwide in commending President Muhammadu Buhari for accepting to consider the release of held leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),” he said.

He also asked President Muhammadu Buhari to consider the release of IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Buhari had told Igbo leaders who visited him at Aso Rock on Friday that he would consider the request to release Kanu.
