NLC said it would play a significant role in changing Nigeria’s politics in 2023.

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, has said that the group has over 12 million electorates that will vote for the Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, and other candidates of the party.

Announced by Mr Wabba at a LP retreat in Abuja on Monday, the event themed “Nigeria at Crossroads, Labour Party as the only option”, had the national chairman of LP, Julius Abure, and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, present at the event.

In his speech, Mr Wabba said that the NLC union would play a significant role when it comes to changing the face of politics at the 2023 general election.

Reacting to views from opposition parties, Mr Wabba reiterated and dismissed views that the LP has no structure. “We have structures. Human beings are structures.

“We must activate it. We are activating all our structures in all the 774 LGAs and we have over 12 million members that will vote,” Mr Wabba said.

Supporting Mr Wabba’s views, Mr Abure said Nigeria has had failed leadership, adding that the LP was poised to be a positive change to bad the situation.

Also speaking, Mr Falana urged the NLC, Trade Union Congress, and other associated bodies to mobilise Nigerians to win the upcoming 2023 presidential election.

Mr Falana’s comment laid more emphasis on the views of Mr Wabba, in terms of mobilising 12 million electorates to vote for the LP presidential candidate, Mr Obi.

Meanwhile, Mr Obi, in August, flew out of the country to the United States and other Western countries to continue his campaign to Nigerians in the diaspora.
