Governors under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress have endorsed President Bola Tinubu as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, who is also chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, announced the unanimous endorsement by the 22 governors.

The endorsement took place on Thursday, during the APC National Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with the theme ‘Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far.’

Mr Uzodimma made the announcement after he moved a motion for the adoption of Mr Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for 2027 election, and was seconded by the Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, who is also the PGF Vice-Chairman.

The motion was thereafter put to a voice vote which witnessed participants, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, members of the National Assembly under the APC, serving and former governors under the party and APC members from 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, making a unanimous yes vote.
