ISTANBUL

Three people went missing while three others were injured after a seaplane crashed off Rottnest Island in Australia on Tuesday.

Out of the seven people aboard, three were seriously injured while one person has been rescued without injury from the seaplane that went down off a popular tourist destination east of Perth in Western Australia.

The private plane plummeted into the water after striking a large rock near Thomson Bay, according to ABC News.

The two 40-year old injured women and one unidentified person were taken to hospitals in Perth.

ABC reported that the plane was just a week old, with flight records indicating it departed Sydney on Dec. 28 and arrived in Perth the next day.

According to eyewitnesses the plane only reached up to three meters in the air before crashing.
