Three seminarians were abducted from Christ The King Major late Monday after bandits opened fire at students of the Catholic seminary in North-West Kaduna.

Voice of America on Tuesday reported six seminarians were injured in the attack.

Chairman of the Kaduna State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Joseph Hayab, told the news outlet the bandits opened fire at the cafeteria where five students were sitting after dinner.

“Before they [the students] knew it, these gunmen came, surrounded them, and picked them. It was later that they released two and went away with three,” Mr Hayab said.

It was gathered that the bandits have reached out and are demanding N15 million as ransom.

Peoples Gazette learnt that the three kidnapped students are in their fourth and final year before qualifying as priests.

The seminary which is located at the St. Albert Institute for Higher Education houses seminarians preparing for the Catholic priesthood.

Police spokesperson for Kaduna, Mohammad Jalige, said Force have been deployed to “comb the nearby bushes” and try to rescue the abducted seminarians.

Weeks passed, no fewer than 40 persons were killed when bandits attacked remote villages in Kaura rural areas in Kaduna.
