Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State at the weekend assured the Idoma people that the selection of the next Och’Idoma will be done transparently.

He gave the assurance when he paid a condolence visit to the Acting Och’Idoma, Engr. George Edeh, and the entire Idoma Area Traditional Council in Otukpo.

The governor’s condolence visit followed the hunting expedition embarked upon by the Och’Idoma IV, Agaba-Idu, Elias Ikoyi Obekpa, about one month ago.

He said a meeting of stakeholders from Benue State would soon be convened to kick-start the selection process, adding that the laws guiding the process would be strictly adhered to.

Responding, the acting Och’Idoma, Engr. Edeh, described the governor’s visit as a show of love to the entire Idoma nation, having sent his deputy earlier when the monarch went on hunting expedition.
