On Sunday, Liverpool put up a commanding show to reclaim the second spot on the English Premier League table, defeating Brentford 3-nil at Anfield.

Smarting from a frustrating 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture in September, the Reds dominated the match from the blast of the whistle.

Midfielder Fabinho gave Liverpool the lead, scoring in the 44th minute just before the sides retire for half time break.

Liverpool returned to the second half to continue the damage, scoring two more goals to grab all three points to deaden the Bee’s hopes of a comeback.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made it two for the home side in the 69th minute, while Takumi Minamino’s goal in the 77th minute sealed Liverpool’s victory.

Despite the absence of their talisman Mo Salah and Sadio Mane who are away at African Cup of Nations (AFCON), Liverpool dominated ball possession by 69 per cent and had 13 shots on target.

Brentford who have not won any away game since early October, on the other hand, had just one shot on target throughout the game.

Liverpool are now second on the EPL log with 45 points in 21 games, displacing Chelsea who had 43 points in 22 games so far.
