The bandits abducted the Church Assistant Shepherd, and the Sunday School teacher, and have demanded N50 million ransom.
Armed bandits have broken into the Celestial Church of Christ, Oshoffa Parish, in Ogun State, kidnapping two worshippers.
The Church is located at Wasimi, Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
The bandits, numbering about four, were said to have abducted the Church Assistant Shepherd, Oluwaseun Ajose, and the Sunday school teacher, Dagunro Ayobami.
The incident is coming barely a few weeks after terrorists attacked the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, in Ondo State, killing over 40 worshippers and injuring dozens of the parishioners.
Peoples Gazette gathered that the kidnappers stormed the church compound, around midnight, on Tuesday, and dragged the two victims away.
Tomisin Ehuwaojomo, the Shepherd of the church, who confirmed the abduction, said he was sleeping in his room when the kidnappers stormed the church.
Mr Ehuwaojomo explained that the bandits have already demanded a sum of N50 million as ransom before they would release the victims.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, the Shepherd said he has contacted the security agents over the incident to ensure their release.
He explained, “When my Assistant Shepherd called me almost two hours after they left, the kidnappers refused to speak with me twice. But on his third attempt, they spoke with me and demanded N50 million ransom.
“I told them that I am a servant of God, nobody pays me a salary. I have spoken with the Ogun State Commissioner of Police. The command is on the matter.”
However, when contacted, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said he was yet to be properly briefed about the incident.
The police have repeatedly warned religious organisations against holding vigils following the incessant kidnap cases at night by bandits and gunmen in general.
