Governor Godwin Obaseki said his government developing a tourism master plan was to create job opportunities for the state’s people.
The Edo State government says it has concluded an arrangement to revitalise the Ojirami Dam in the Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state to provide and supply portable water to residents.
Governor Godwin Obaseki said this at the 25th coronation anniversary and birthday celebration of the Otaru of Igarra, Oba Emmanuel Adeche Saiki II, in Igarra Akoko Edo Local Government of Edo on Saturday.
Mr Obaseki, represented by the Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Diaspora Affair, Bamidele Obaitan, said the government was developing a tourism master plan to create job opportunities for the state’s people.
According to him, the Akoko Edo Local Government is part of the tourism master plan due to the huge tourism sites in the council area and Edo North in general.
“We are working on a tourism master plan to develop the tourism potential in Edo.
“Akoko Edo abounds with huge tourism potential, and the local government is part of our tourism master plan due to various tourist sites in the area.
“With the development of the local government tourism potential, the area will bring more businesses and money to the people and the state,” Mr Obaseki said.
The governor promised to establish more health centres and construct more roads in the local government area to boost economic productivity.
