Lt. Col Joseph Njoku, the chief of staff of the Nigerian Army’s Directorate of Chaplain Services, says the country is unsafe and requires good leaders to steer it in the right direction to rescue it from its current challenges.

The military officer made this statement during the graduation and inaugural convocation of Anchor Leadership Academy in Ipaja, Lagos.

He said Nigerians could not pretend that the country is safe given the egregious security issues plaguing it.

“Nigerians cannot pretend to admit that the country is safe with challenges of kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry and terrorism ravaging the country coupled with the unpalatable state of the economy,” stated Mr Njoku. “Hence, the country needs the right leadership to give her a sense of direction.”

The army officer made the remarks ahead of the 2023 general elections in which Nigerians will cast ballots to elect a new leader.
