Gambia’s Vice President Badara Alieu Joof is dead, the Gambian president announced on Wednesday.
He died “in India after a short illness,” Gambian President Adama Barrow said on Twitter, without providing further details.
Joof had been the vice president of Gambia since 2022.
He previously served as minister of higher education, research, science, and technology from 2017 to 2022.
