WASHINGTON D.C.: Nielsen ratings data reported that some 27.3 million people watched U.S. President Joe Biden’s February 7 State of the Union speech, a 29 percent decline in audience from his address last year, which brought in 38.2 million television viewers.

The figures included people who watched on the largest U.S. broadcast and cable networks, including ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC. Nielsen said 59 percent of viewers watched on broadcast networks, with 73 percent of the audience being age 55 and older.

In his 73-minute-long address, Biden, a Democrat, challenged Republicans to lift the U.S. debt ceiling and support tax policies that were friendlier to middle-class Americans.
