The All Progressives Congress (APC) Conference of Speakers has elected the Speaker of Kwara House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, as its chairman.

This is contained in a statement by the chief press secretary to the Speaker, Sheu Abdulkadir, on Saturday in Ilorin.

“The conference announced Danladi-Salihu as its new chairman after a competitive, transparent, and democratic election.

“Other elected officials of the conference are Moses Odunwo (Ebonyi) – deputy chairman, Chiroma Buba (Yobe) – vice chairman north, and Olamide Oladiji (Ondo state) – vice chairman south.

“The remaining elected officials are Elvert Ayambem (Cross Rivers) – treasurer and Yusuf Liman (Kaduna) – financial secretary.

“The conference recognised the indispensable role of legislative autonomy in upholding democratic principles and ensuring effective governance,” he said.

He added: ”It reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding and upholding the autonomy of the legislative arm at all levels of government to promote good governance that would engender Nigeria’s growth and progress.”
