The Kogi House of Assembly has constituted a seven-member committee to probe the revenue accruing to the North-Central state.

Speaker Aliyu Yusuf, inaugurating the team in Lokoja on Thursday, explained that it had become imperative to get the correct data on monies accruing to the state.

“We don’t know what exactly comes from the federation account. We also do not know what we generate internally. Following the discrepancies in figures, it has become imperative for us to get the correct data on what comes into the Kogi purse.

“We believe this will greatly help our drive and desire for rapid infrastructural and human development,” he said.

The speaker said the committee’s terms of reference would be unveiled “soon.”

He gave the committee eight weeks to submit its report.

The committee is chaired by Olawumi Jacob, with Akus Lawal as co-chairman and Muhammed Bello-Abdul as its clerk.

Other members include Idrees Maikudi, Jibrin Abu, Abdulrasaq Suleiman and Emmanuel Obaro.
