Nigerians have slammed Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State over the deplorable state of roads across the state, asking him to focus on governance and shun flamboyant lifestyle.

The long hours of rains in the past few days have worsened the already deplorable state of the roads filled with death traps, and making it a nightmare for commuters to access the roads.

Viral videos showed motorists with their 1 broken down vehicles, as well as pedestrians almost half swallowed in the heavily flooded roads, caused by huge pot holes and lack of drainage channels.

Calling on the “steeze governor”, to declare a state of emergency on roads in the state, former state governorship aspirant, Segun Showunmi, of the Peoples Democratic Party, on his Facebook page on Saturday said, “…those who have governed and are governing now must look themselves in the mirror and be ashamed of themselves for how the state looks in terms of road infrastructure.”

“Well as for the present Governor Dapo Abiodun reorder your priorities. I attest to the fact that I have seen some efforts with roads that are equally important but mostly unspoken about by telling you to take away the reproach of bad roads,” he advised.

In the same vein, Hauwa Allahbura (@hauwaallahbura) who shared a video of a bad road on her X handle, wrote, “This is Kola Bus station, just before Lafenwa Itele road… Ota Ogun State. All we are saying Dapo Abiodun is Give us more roads.’’

Another X user, Tunde Aluko (@tundealuko) in his own post said, “There’s no world where Dapo Abiodun qualifies as an average governor. He is a terrible failure in every way possible. To constituents who have not seen any evidence of governance in his five years in office will rightly call him a disaster.”

Also, @Ilo_Monsurbj stated, “You will be surprised as to how this road (Ijoko road) is to the Lagos-Abẹ́òkúta Expressway linking Lagos State. But the governor is not interested in completing the road as far as it’s not under Ogun East (his senatorial district). It’s a matter of time.”

But in response to the criticisms however” the state government, on Monday on its official X handle, listed over 40 roads it has completed.
