The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre has alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s government assembled fictitious groups to discredit the forthcoming #EndBadGovernance protests.

In an interview on ARISE TV on Sunday, CISLAC executive director Auwal Musa Rafsanjani said, “The federal government is embarking on unnecessary waste of public money to be mobilising and recruiting faceless groups to say they are withdrawing from the protest.

“It’s not about mobilising the protest. In my opinion, if the government had been listening and coming up with policies and programmes that would alleviate the suffering Nigerians are going through, I don’t think people would want to protest.”

He stated that Nigerians are patient and reasonable and will listen if Mr Tinubu has a clear framework to address their challenges.

“The president has actually disgraced them by saying that he himself was a sponsor of protest. So for those that are citing religious connotations that it’s illegal or it’s haram or anti-Christianity, I think the president has already shamed them,” the activist stated.
