The police command in Bauchi has pledged to provide adequate security during the planned nationwide protest scheduled to begin on August 1.
The spokesman of the command, SP Ahmed Wakil, said this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the command is working in synergy with other security agencies to protect lives and property during the protest.
“In anticipation of this event, the command, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, has put in place extensive security measures to safeguard lives and property.
“This includes the deployment of tactical teams, uniformed and plainclothes personnel, and intelligence assets to protect areas that may be vulnerable to potential disruptions,” the police said.
The statement urged the conveners of the protest to provide their details to the command, adding that such information should outline the routes, assembly points and expected duration of the protest as well as measures to prevent any criminal elements from hijacking the peaceful protest.
While reiterating its commitment to protect lives and property, the command warned against acts capable of disrupting relative peace in the state.
He also urged residents of the state to provide credible information to the security agencies to enable them to fight crimes.
“All the information given will be treated with absolute confidentiality,” the police statement said.
