The long awaited strategic event of the Indonesia Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) Lagos in partnership with Nigeria – Indonesia Commercial Association (NICA), held on Thursday 27th May 2021, at the Fatimah Hall of the Grand Central Hotel Kano, with business leaders from various sectors, representing Kano, Bauchi, Jigawa and Katsina states chambers of commerce and industry participating.
Delivering his remarks, H. E. Dr. Usra Hendra Harahap, the Indonesia Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, welcomed participants and informed them of the long and great relation between Indonesia and Nigeria, and expressed the commitment of the Indonesia Embassy to continue to work to deepen business and trade relations between both countries. He also invited participants to seize the opportunities presented by the annual trade expo to visit Indonesia and explore the rich and diverse opportunities from Indonesia manufacturers and exporters from various economic sectors.
In his video testimonial, the Executive Secretary Nigeria – Indonesia Commercial Association (NICA), Dr. Elvis Enyioko, presented the benefits and gains of NICA participation in the annual trade expo to participants and urged them to see the expo as opportunities to scale up their business operations and processes in sectors like agriculture, pharmaceutical, medical, food processing, crafts, and so many other sectors that the rich and quality Indonesia manufacturing will provide them; and pledged the continual support of NICA and ITPC Lagos in making their participation gainful to their various businesses.
This year’s expo is the 36th edition of the annual Trade Expo Indonesia, and appropriately dubbed the “HYBRID” edition. Throwing more light on this, Mr. Hendro Jonathan, the Director, Indonesia Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) Lagos, explained the basis of the Hybrid Edition, as necessitated by the global Covid 19 pandemic; that the hybrid edition will combine physical and virtual participation. Participants that are unable to travel to Indonesia for the physical expo can benefit same way through the virtual option.
The Director, informed participants that the Indonesia Ministry of Trade as organizer of the expo, has established a robust VIRTUAL PLATFORM, where registered participants can virtually participate in the expo opening ceremony, navigate through expo halls, visit manufacturing stands and see products on display, virtually ask exhibitors questions, place products orders, book physical visits to manufacturers, as well as reach agreements and sign MOUs. He informed participants of the interest of Indonesia manufacturers to explore the Nigerian market and urged business leaders present to seize the opportunities that this year’s expo presents. He pledged the commitment of ITPC Lagos to work with all chambers in Nigeria, as well as individual businesses to make their Indonesia Trade Expo experience gainful and memorable.
This well attended event, featured question and answer, as well as One-on-One business sessions. Participants expressed happiness and appreciation to ITPC Lagos for organizing the event in Kano and expressed their desire and willingness to commence preparations to attend the 36th Trade Expo Indonesia this year.
The Promoting Trade Expo Indonesia event closed with dinner for all participants.
