The Anambra government has reassured residents of adequate security before, during, and after the Christmas celebrations.

Don Onyenji, commissioner for culture and tourism, gave the assurance at the 2024 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons and Praises, organised by the state government and tagged “Emmanuel God with Us. “

The carol took place on Friday night in Awka.

“The position of Anambra during and after Christmas celebrations is to do everything possible to secure lives and property.

“We want our people to be reassured that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is doing everything possible to tackle insecurity.

“Recently, the state government launched some security equipment to tackle all forms of criminality in the state,” Mr Onyenji said.

The commissioner stated that the recent measures taken by the government to secure lives and properties would go a long way in making the state safer for everybody.

He urged people who want to visit Anambra during Christmas to feel free to do so.

Mr Onyenji explained that the carol of nine lessons being celebrated signified that “Anambra is God’s own state.”

He said that the event featured orchestra performances, carols, lessons, renditions, praises by gospel artists, and drama.

On December 17, 2024, Mr Soludo donated 163 vehicles to security agencies to ensure active patrol of the nooks and crannies of the state.

The governor also said that surveillance cameras would be installed to cover all major cities and forests used by criminals.

In addition, Mr Soludo assured the people that 20 vigilante personnel and forest guards would be recruited in each community across the state to complement the efforts of the security agencies.

The governor said that the government would work on changing the ideology where the people perceive security agents as the enemy and the criminals as liberators.
