The Nigeria-Indonesia Commercial Association (NICA) takes great pleasure in reflecting on the diplomatic visits of His Excellency, AVM Dr. Usra H. Harahap (Ret), the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Nigeria. During his tenure, Ambassador Harahap embarked on several diplomatic working visits to various state governments in Nigeria, fostering stronger bilateral ties and exploring opportunities for economic cooperation.

One notable visit was his diplomatic working visit to His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, the Executive Governor of Abia State. This visit underscored the Ambassador’s commitment to strengthening economic relations between Indonesia and Nigeria at the sub-national level. By engaging with state governments, Ambassador Harahap aimed to identify areas of mutual interest and facilitate partnerships that could drive economic growth and development.

Ambassador Harahap’s diplomatic efforts have yielded significant results, with Nigeria emerging as Indonesia’s second-largest trade partner in Africa after South Africa. The volume of trade between Nigeria and Indonesia has witnessed fluctuations over the years, but the Ambassador’s tireless efforts have helped to sustain the momentum of economic cooperation.

During his tenure, Ambassador Harahap also facilitated various business forums and exhibitions, providing platforms for Nigerian and Indonesian businesses to engage and explore opportunities for collaboration. The 3rd Nigeria-Indonesia Business Forum, held in Port Harcourt, is a testament to the Ambassador’s commitment to fostering economic ties between the two nations.

As Ambassador Harahap’s tenure comes to a close, NICA wishes to express its profound gratitude for his tireless efforts in strengthening Nigeria-Indonesia relations. His legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations of leaders and businesspeople, as they strive to deepen the economic and cultural ties between our two great nations.
