MOSCOW
The US special envoy for Russia and Ukraine arrived in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Wednesday, local media reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Keith Kellogg’s visit on Monday, stating that he plans to remain in Kyiv until Saturday.
In addition to Zelenskyy, the US envoy is set to meet with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, and may also hold talks with military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov.
Kellogg’s visit follows Tuesday’s talks in Saudi Arabia between Russia and the US, including on how to end the nearly three-year-old Russia-Ukraine war.
It also comes on the heels of US President Donald Trump’s critical remarks about Zelenskyy and Ukraine resisting Trump’s demands for access to Ukraine’s mineral wealth in exchange for supporting the embattled country.
