MOSCOW

The Kremlin spokesman said Friday that Europe has not made any move to resume dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“So far, there have been no signals,” Dmitry Peskov said at a press briefing in Moscow.

On Thursday, Finnish President Alexander Stubb told reporters that “the coalition of the willing” for Ukraine agreed that at least one European leader should engage in dialogue with Putin.

The informal coalition has pledged support for Ukraine amid the ongoing Moscow-Kyiv war and discussed a potential peacekeeping force, and it includes more than 30 countries – mostly from Europe but also nations like Japan, Türkiye, and Canada.

“My personal preference would be that our representatives of the coalition of the willing would be doing that. In other words, France or the United Kingdom,” said Stubb.

Stubb had previously said that European nations began discussing the possibility of resuming dialogue with Russia during a coalition summit held in Paris last week.

However, he emphasized that any future engagement would require coordination and did not provide a specific date for potential talks.
