Gunmen suspected to be bandits have launched a deadly attack on Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing six people and abducting more than 50 others.

Residents confirmed that the attackers arrived on motorcycles early in the morning and began shooting indiscriminately, leading to the deaths of six individuals. The assailants reportedly abducted at least 56 villagers during the raid.

“Bandits just kidnapped 56 persons at Dandume in Katsina State and killed six persons this morning; we’re on our way there now for reinforcement,” a security source said.

When contacted, police spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sodiq Aliyu replied, “Can’t talk now. Please text me.” However, no response had been received to the follow-up message as of press time.
