The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has fixed July 12, 2025, for the 57 council chairmanship positions and 376 councillor seats in Lagos State.

According to Ojo, the date for the poll was chosen to avoid the leadership vacuum across councils in the state.

There are a total of 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.

Ojo confirmed that the July 12 election will cover the 20 Local Governments, 37 LCDAs, and 376 wards in the state.

The commission also announced the launch of the electoral process by releasing the Notice of Election.

According to Ojo, all the political parties are expected to visit LASIEC headquarters to obtain forms for their candidates.

“The Election Guidelines will be published on April 17,” Ojo said.

He also said that campaigns and rallies for political parties will commence on April 18 and end on July 9, 2025.
