PARIS

The “Choose France” business summit is set to bring in €20 billion ($22.47 billion) of new investment, French President Emmanuel Macron announced Monday.

“This year, we are going to announce 20 billion euros in new investments, plus 20 billion euros in confirmed investments in artificial intelligence (AI),” said Macron.

Speaking to broadcaster RTL, French Finance Minister Eric Lombard reaffirmed hours before the summit that they expected €37 billion of new investment.

“That includes €20 billion in entirely new projects. And a few weeks ago, the President of the Republic received artificial intelligence investors in Paris: out of the €109 billion announced at the time, €17 billion had been pledged,” Lombard said.

The annual summit, which was held Monday, aims to gather and mobilize international investments.
