Former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday said he thanks God for not being part of President Bola Tinubu’s government anytime he sees the administration inflicting more pain on Nigerians and getting simple governance wrong.

Mr El-Rufai, in an interview with Arise TV, said not being part of Mr Tinubu’s government saved him from being held accountable for the disaster the government has brought upon the country.

“Anytime I wake up and see Tinubu inflicting more pain on Nigerians and just bungling governance, the simplest things in governance that I knew when I was DG BPE, whenever I see them, I thank God,” Mr El-Rufai said.

“I think God saved me. I’m really lucky. God saved me from the embarrassment of explaining being part of this disaster,” Mr El-Rufai added.

The former Kaduna governor described Mr Tinubu’s administration as evil and a tragedy he participated in bringing upon Nigeria, adding he wants to join other opposition politicians to oust Mr Tinubu from office in 2027.

Meanwhile, last week, Mr Tinubu had hailed Uba Sani, Mr El-Rufai’s successor, saying he has transformed Kaduna into a better place from the toxic state it was under Mr El-Rufai’s watch.

Mr El-Rufai dumped the All Progressives Congress to join the Social Democratic Party a few months ago, after his ministerial nomination was blocked by the Senate. Mr El-Rufai accused Mr Tinubu of being behind the blocking of his appointment.

Before now, Mr El-Rufai had berated Mr Tinubu as a failure and admitted he supported him to be president despite knowing his Chicago cocaine and certificate forgery scandals.
