The Indonesia Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) Lagos, in furtherance of her mandate and commitment to mutual prosperity between Nigeria and Indonesia, through the facilitation of international commerce and investment, partnered with Nigeria – Indonesia Commercial Association (NICA), in the organization and implementation of the 1st Virtual Indonesia Business and Trade Forum (via Zoom), on Tuesday 13th July 2021, by 11am (WAT). This forum builds on the strategic push of Mr. Hendro Jonathan, Director, ITPC Lagos, to deepen business and trade volumes between Indonesia and the West Africa Sub-region.

The forum witnessed good participation from Nigerian Medical Doctors, Business Men, Buyers and Indonesian Equipment Manufacturing companies that made presentation on their respective business products and services, with eye on exporting their products to the Nigerian market.

Opening the event, the Moderator, Dr. Elvis Enyioko, Executive Secretary, NICA, welcomed all participants and expressed the commitment of his organization to explore all avenues to see that trade relations between Nigeria and Indonesian companies are solidified.

Presenting his opening speech, H. E. Usra Hendra Harahap, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, extolled the wisdom of ITPC Lagos and NICA in conceptualizing the virtual forum, and expressed his optimism in the ability of the forum to achieve its stated objective of facilitating exports and trade of Indonesian medical equipment products to Nigeria. He thanked all participants and participating corporate members of Indonesian Association of Medical Equipment Manufacturers (ASPAKI).

In his remarks, Mr. Didi Sumedi, the Director General, National Export Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, presented the huge potentials and opportunities in the Indonesian manufacturing sectors, and expressed his hope that the forum presents huge opportunities for Nigerian business men and hospitals to purchase there hospital equipments, products and consumable needs from members of ASPAKI. He encouraged ITPC Lagos and NICA to explore trade opportunities in other sectors of the Indonesian market.

The Chairman, Indonesian Association of Medical Equipment manufacturers (ASPAKI), Mr. Ade Tarya Hidayat, in his presentation, expressed his confidence in the high quality and affordability of Indonesian medical equipment’s and encouraged participants to freely establish contact with participating ASPAKI members.

The forum witnessed presentation by the representatives of five corporate members of ASPAKI: PT. Mursmedic; PT. Afifarma; CV Bartec Utama Mandiri; PT. Maesindo Indonesia Limited; and PT. Meditech Manufaktur Indonesia.

Participants had time to listen to the various company representatives and asked informed questions as regards the products of their interest; afterwards, the forum went into a Break Out B2B session.

In his closing remarks and vote of thanks, Mr. Hendro Jonathan, Director, ITPC Lagos, expressed his thanks and appreciation to H. E. Usra Hendra Harahap, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Mr. Didi Sumedi, the Director General, National Export Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade; Mr. Ade Tarya Hidayat, Chairman, Indonesian Association of Medical Equipment manufacturers (ASPAKI); Dr. Elvis Enyioko, Executive Secretary, NICA; the five participating corporate members of ASPAKI, ITPC Lagos Vice Director and staff; as well as participants that included state and city chambers of commerce and industry, for making the 1st Virtual Indonesia Business and Trade Forum (via Zoom) a great and resounding success.

The forum ended by 2:45pm (WAT).
