Fidelix Bagudu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the by-election for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency held on Saturday in Kaduna State.
The announcement was made by Abubakar Jumare, the Returning Officer for the election, at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office on Sunday.
According to Jumare, Bagudu polled a total of 34,580 votes, defeating his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 11,491 votes.
The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came third with 3,477 votes.
Bagudu’s margin of victory stood at 23,089 votes, sealing his return to the House of Representatives to represent the constituency.
The election was one of several by-elections conducted across the country following vacant seats declared by INEC.
