The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a decisive win in the Egume/Dekina State Constituency by-election held on Saturday, delivering one of the party’s most overwhelming victories in the just-concluded by-elections across 11 states.

Musa Hassan Yakubu, the APC candidate, was declared the winner with a commanding 55,073 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Godwin Meliga of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled just 1,038 votes, a gap of over 54,000 votes.

The results were announced by Prof. Emmanuel Onoja Eneche, the Returning Officer for the election.

Other candidates lagged far behind. Egene Joseph Ugbede (APM) got 445 votes, Amos Ahaiba (ADC) got 141 votes, Rilwan Mudi (SDP) recorded 5 votes, while Yakubu Ugbede of AA got 16 votes.

The by-election was conducted following the declaration of a vacancy in the constituency and was one of several organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, August 16, across multiple states.
