LONDON

The US tech giant Amazon’s cloud unit Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced Monday that the technical issue that began in the morning and blocked access to many applications, primarily in the US and Europe, has been resolved, and most AWS services are functioning normally.

A technical outage that began early Monday morning on AWS prevented access to many applications, including Snapchat, Perplexity, Amazon, the gaming platform Fortnite, the British Lloyds Bank, the UK Revenue and Customs Agency, the foreign language learning application Duolingo, Prime Video, telecommunications companies Vodafone and BT, Canva, Signal, and Roblox.

In an update on its status page, AWS stated that the domain name system (DNS) issue had been fully resolved and that most services were now functioning normally.

The post confirmed that global services connected to the US-EAST 1 region in the state of Virginia had also returned to normal, but noted that some requests may be temporarily limited and error rates may be seen until a complete solution is provided.

According to data from the internet outage monitoring service Downdetector, users continue to report access issues with the affected applications, but reports of the problem have decreased since earlier in the morning.
