The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated new state executive members in Adamawa, calling for unity and commitment to repositioning the party for victory in future elections.

The inauguration took place on Saturday in Yola and was attended by prominent political figures and members, including former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal; former governor of Adamawa, Mohammed Bindow; and Senator Ishaku Abbo.

Speaking at the event, Mr Lawal said the new leadership would revitalise the ADC in the state.

“The old executives of the ADC outlived their usefulness by abandoning the party; therefore, a new transition committee had to be inaugurated.

“The transition committee will be headed by Mr Sadiq Dasin, a former member of the House of Representatives and one-time speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, who will oversee the reorganisation process,” he said.

Mr Lawal said the change became necessary following a prolonged leadership tussle.

He said the new executives are expected to work together to strengthen the party’s structures across the state.

Also speaking, Mr Bindow expressed optimism that the ADC would make significant political gains, calling on the people of Adamawa to join the party.

He described the ADC as a platform capable of providing credible leadership under the guidance of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Similarly, Mr Abdulaziz Nyako said the ADC had become the party to beat in Adamawa, stressing that it is now in a strong position to challenge other political parties.

On his part, Ishaku Abbo described the ADC as the leading opposition party in Nigeria, adding that it was positioned to protect the rights and interests of citizens.

Mr Abbo expressed confidence that the ADC would perform strongly in the 2027 general elections.

He expressed delight to identify with the ADC, saying it is committed to the defence of democratic values and the rights of all Nigerians.
