The Jigawa chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association has commended Governor Umar Namadi for reviewing the salaries of doctors and other healthcare workers in the state.
The branch NMA chairman, Shamsu Gujungu, gave the commendation in a statement on Tuesday.
Mr Gujungu said by implementing the Federal Consolidated Medical Salary Structure and Consolidated Health Salary Structure and reviewing call and hazard allowances, among others, the government has aligned Jigawa’s pay with the national standard.
He said the historic reform is a bold investment in human capital and a strong testament to the administration’s commitment to revitalising the state health sector.
“Namadi breaks 15-year health workers’ salary stalemate, and NMA hails the governor for restoring hope. Under his leadership, Jigawa has become a model of progressive healthcare governance,” he said.
The chairman also commends the efforts of the head of the civil service, the health commissioner, and other members of the implementation committee, whose dedication ensured the success of the landmark achievement.
He urged doctors and healthcare workers in other parts of Nigeria to consider Jigawa for employment opportunities.
