The new police spokesman for the Zone 2 command in Lagos, Gbenga Afolayan, has assumed duty.

This was announced in a statement on Tuesday.

Mr Afolayan, who hails from the Ijero Ekiti LGA in Ekiti, was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on December 20, 2018, as a cadet assistant superintendent of police under Regular Course 1.

He received his training at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.

He has attended several professional courses, including the Combat Operation Course at the Police Mobile Force Training School, Ila Orangun, Osun State, and the Operational Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College in Jos.

Mr Afolayan has served in various capacities during his career.

He served as personal assistant to the assistant inspector-general of police at Zone 17 Headquarters and to the police commissioner in Ondo.

Until his recent deployment, he was serving at the Police Special Fraud Unit in Ikoyi, Lagos.
