A former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has said Nigeria is not a poor country but politicians are its problem.

The Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections also urged citizens to continue praying for them.

Mr Obi spoke on Sunday at the Oyo State 50th anniversary thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral of St. Peter Anglican Church, Aremo, Ibadan.

He said, “Please do remember we politicians in your prayers. We are the problem of Nigeria. No other person.”

The politician stated that Nigeria was not a poor country, urging citizens to pray that God would touch the hearts of politicians.

Mr Obi said, “Nigeria is not a poor country. It is poorly governed. Remember us in your prayer that God should touch our hearts to use public money for public good.”
