The Governing Council of Salem University Lokoja, Kogi State, has approved the reappointment of Alewo Johnson-Akubo as the vice chancellor of the university for a second term.
Mr Johnson-Akubo’s reappointment was announced in a statement by the university registrar, Emmanuel Adejoh, in Lokoja on Thursday.
Mr Adejoh said the council’s decision was aimed at consolidating the current gains in all-round academic growth he brought to bear on the varsity.
He said, “The university governing council also considered Johnson-Akubo’s strides in policy re-engineering and development of the first privately owned university in north-central Nigeria as far-reaching and commendable.
“The council expressed confidence in his (Johnson-Akubo’s) ability and agility to continue with the magic wand in transforming the institution into one of the best citadels of learning within the West African sub-region.
“While congratulating the VC on his reappointment, the council prayed God to grant the VC the grace, wisdom and understanding to pilot the affairs of the university to greater heights.”
