The speaker of the Kebbi House of Assembly, Mohammed Usman-Zuru, is dead.
The announcement was disclosed in a statement by his spokesperson, Murtala Adamu-Diri, on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Mr Usman-Zuru died on Monday evening in Cairo, Egypt, where he was receiving medical treatment.
“The late speaker, who represented Zuru constituency in the state assembly, was a prominent political figure from the Zuru Emirate and Speaker of the 10th Kebbi House of Assembly.
“His death is a huge loss to his constituents, the state legislature, and the political community in Kebbi State and Nigeria at large,” it said.
The statement added that details of burial arrangements and official condolences would be announced by the Kebbi government and the family of the deceased in due course.
