Vietnam has approved a comprehensive action programme to implement the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan, setting out priorities to deepen regional integration and reinforce the country’s position within ASEAN.
The programme, endorsed by the Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, covers the period from 2026 to 2030, with further orientations extending to 2035 and a long-term vision to 2045.
According to VNA, a partner of TV BRICS, it translates ASEAN’s economic objectives into targeted measures aligned with Vietnam’s national development agenda.
The initiative prioritises the full and effective implementation of AEC commitments across a wide range of sectors.
These include trade in goods and services, investment, competition policy, intellectual property, customs procedures and logistics.
It also places emphasis on emerging areas such as the digital, green and circular economies, as well as smart urban development and next-generation economic corridors.
Authorities plan to continue refining legal frameworks and regulatory mechanisms to ensure closer alignment with regional agreements and international standards.
Strengthening coordination among government bodies and improving institutional capacity remain central to the programme’s implementation.
The plan also highlights the importance of closer engagement between public institutions and the business community.
It aims to help Vietnamese enterprises expand their presence in ASEAN markets, increase participation in regional supply chains and take advantage of trade and investment opportunities.
Monitoring and evaluation mechanisms will be reinforced to ensure transparency and allow for timely policy adjustments in response to changing regional and global conditions.
Implementation will be closely linked to Vietnam’s broader socio-economic development strategy through to 2045.
