Members of the Kaduna Butchers Association, Kabala Branch, have defected from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress, declaring support for Governor Uba Sani.

The defectors were received at the campaign office of the governor by the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Sadiq Mamman-Lagos, who also serves as director-general of the Senator Uba Sani Support Group.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the leader of the delegation, Suleiman Sale Dan Kabo, said their decision was based on the governor’s developmental strides, inclusive style of governance and commitment to peace in Kaduna.

He noted that recent empowerment programmes and infrastructural projects in Kabala Ward had positively impacted their businesses and livelihoods.

According to him, the government’s presence at the grassroots has renewed residents’ confidence, particularly among small-scale operators.

The group also commended the role of Mr Mamman-Lagos, attributing improvements in the area to his efforts and representation in government.

He added that the defection was a collective decision by members of the association, regardless of political affiliation.

Mr Mamman-Lagos described the defection as a demonstration of growing public confidence in Mr Sani’s administration.

He reiterated the APC-led government’s commitment to policies and programmes that would improve citizens’ welfare, especially at the grassroots.

The commissioner assured the new members of continued support and announced a cash empowerment of N200,000 each to 60 members of the association to boost their businesses.
