The Nigerian Army has arrested blogger Mark Chidiebere, also known as “Justice Crack,” and several soldiers over alleged incitement and misinformation.

This is contained in a statement on Saturday in Abuja by Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele.

Ms Anele said the arrests followed complaints shared by the blogger on social media regarding soldiers’ feeding conditions and welfare concerns.

She said preliminary investigations revealed that the blogger engaged some soldiers in discussions allegedly aimed at creating discontent within the ranks.

“Some of the exchanges are considered to border on subversive conduct,” Ms Anele said.

She noted that such actions posed serious threats to military discipline and national security.

According to her, the blogger was arrested alongside the soldiers involved to support ongoing investigations.

Ms Anele said the soldiers were being handled under military procedures and regulations.

She added that the blogger had been transferred to civil authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.

“The Nigerian Army remains committed to the rule of law and due process,” she said.

She assured that the Army would continue working with relevant agencies to ensure justice is served.
