The police command in Niger has arrested two suspects for criminal conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property.

The suspects, Anthony Ahmed, 37, a resident of Gatatu, and Aisha Shuaibu, 70, of the Soje area in Minna, were apprehended following a report of a stolen cow.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, the report was received at about midnight on April 21, 2026.

“On 1st April, 2026, at 3:00 a.m., a report received indicated that one Talba and Suleiman, both presently at large, trespassed into a residence in Gatatu, stole a cow valued over one million naira, and took the cow to the house of one Anthony Ahmed, where it was slaughtered and sold to one Hajia Aisha Shuaibu,” Mr Abiodun said.

According to the statement, police operatives attached to the State Intelligence Department arrested the suspects.

“The two suspects were arrested with the cow head, legs, tail and the skin. They confessed to the crime,” Mr Abiodun stated.

He disclosed that Ms Shuaibu claimed she bought the cow for N350,000.
