Gospel singer, Yinka Alaseyori, says President Bola Tinubu and security agents are working to secure the release of abducted Oyo schoolchildren and staff, but prayer is needed for their release.

In a viral video seen on Monday, Ms Alaseyori urged Nigerians not to allow themselves to be used for politicking, adding that no one can say Mr Tinubu and security forces are not working hard to secure the hostages’ release.

“So many people are saying the prayers they are praying are not working. But believe me, the prayers are working. Don’t let anybody use you for any political whatever,” Ms Alaseyori said.

The gospel singer added, “You cannot say that the president and vice president are not doing what they are supposed to do. They are working. Even the security personnel can be close to the location to rescue the abducted schoolchildren and be blinded by  charms. That is the place of prayer.”

Ms Alaseyori, who often features in Lagos-sponsored events, said, “Don’t let anybody control you. Don’t let anybody use you for anything. But right now, let’s pray for Nigeria. All we have to do is to pray for our country. Every individual needs to pray for these children. We all need prayers. You can’t blame one man that the lord placed in a position.”

About 46 students and staffers from Oriire LGA in Oyo have been held hostage by terrorists since May 15. One of the kidnapped teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was beheaded amid the kidnappers’ demand for a ransom.
