The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital has awarded a contract for the supply and installation of a 1.5 Tesla helium-free MRI machine to strengthen its diagnostic services.

The hospital disclosed this in a statement.

The chief medical director, Thairu Yunusa, during the presentation of the award letter, said that the long-awaited machine, when delivered, would enable the hospital to diagnose complex diseases with greater accuracy.

Mr Yunusa said that as a strategic gateway teaching hospital in the Federal Capital Territory, the new MRI machine would position UATH among world-class diagnostic and interventional centres.

He added that the equipment would significantly enhance the hospital’s diagnostic armamentarium and improve patient outcomes.

The CMD explained that the contract award followed a competitive bidding process conducted in line with due process and the provisions of the Public Procurement Act, 2007.

While receiving the award letter, the representative of the contracting firm assured the hospital management of timely delivery and installation in strict compliance with the terms of the agreement.
